I asked AI if large sunspots reduce TSI and got the following answer:
A large sunspot causes a temporary, short-term drop in total solar irradiance (TSI) because the intense magnetic field within the sunspot inhibits the transport of heat from the Sun’s interior to its surface. However, large sunspots are also associated with surrounding bright regions called faculae, and over longer periods (like the 11-year solar cycle), the brightening effect of faculae outweighs the dimming effect of sunspots, leading to a higher TSI during solar maximum when there are more sunspots and faculae overall.
Hi Deb.
Thank you (not) for hoping the sunspot will frazzle us here in the South when it shoots us with a CME.
If I gave back some sunlight hours, would you consider sparing us
just a smidgeon, please.
Have mercy, oh Deb, the all-knowing, all powerful.
Wherever you’ve been hiding out, it hasn’t curtailed your bizarre sense of humor any. I chose the word “south” because it was slightly better than “underneath”. In the 3D world of the ecliptic plane, I’m not sure what the nomenclature is.
As for being all powerful, you must know that if I were, you wouldn’t be sitting where you are right now. And pretty sly of you to attempt to bargain with something you can’t possibly hold onto. 🌞💫🪐🌎 (That’s as close as I can get to the solar system.)
And probably the little solar system pic first and the Sun second. Then it makes better sense, as if you were approaching from space. I get ahead of myself sometimes.
Deb, Your representation of the solar system is pretty good.
I have been staring at it since you posted it, with minimal blinking, in the hope of spotting a UFO or an alien.
I have spent many nights sleeping out under the stars and hoping to see a UFO. I have never seen one.
It is important to sleep with your mouth closed otherwise the aliens will steal your gold fillings when you nod off.
The probe!!! 🙂
If you want to spot an alien, try looking in the mirror. It’s been a long time since I ran across anyone with gold fillings. And as for that last phrase, i ain’ta gonna touch it! You are too much sometimes!
I few victimless chuckles can be good medicine.
I like how you can read and write and know some things.
The use of the Ecliptic Plane was reassuring. I have thought of contributing some comments on Earth’s reducing axial tilt and climatic effects of this , one Friday.
And please do not tell anyone, but, I had to check the meaning of ‘nomenclature’ to make sure my understanding was earthed with an entanglement of reality.
OK then.
Wherever you are. I’m sure that you’ll be ecstatic to hear that I had to sweep snow off my vehicle yesterday. And then it snowed again last night. Your pronostication was finally fulfilled — and all we had to do was wait for WINTER!
4294 is growing, and it’s already a monster.
I hope the fact that this complex is slightly south of center means that any CME’s coming from it will shoot off to the south of planet Earth…
Do sunspots cause increasing or decreasing solar radiation TSI?

Worry about a CME as big as the Carrington Event. Deb reminded me that Eraths mag field is weaker now so a smaller one could be as bad.

I should have put Saturn after the Earth.

I have a back tooph capped with gold, to hold the broken tooph and repairs together.
I do not use this gold cap as alien bait.
How about click bait, lol? 😅
I know a lot of things for toophless old crone! 🧑🦳🎃
Deb Honey.
Many people used to claim they had been kidnapped by aliens and research was taken out on them by, The Probe.
Be happy.
PS. We had some snow here one morning about 10-15 years ago.
I remember. I still ain’ta gonna touch that. Anything I said would be rude.
I wish to continue to be able to joke about these solar flares…as opposed to my electrical power, phone & auto dying and not coming back on.
And don’t forget your expensive robot turning into a lawn ornament.
hah!
Waygone-
